All Stars
General Information:
All-Star teams exist to represent BLL in district level and beyond tournaments (leading to the Little League World Series for Major division). These teams must meet and follow all rules and guidelines provided by Little League International.
Manager Selection and Appointment
1. The all-star manager/coach must be a registered volunteer in our league, in good standing and have completed all the LLI eligibility requirements
2. Nominations to be an All-Star manager will be submitted by any coach in the division.
3. Once nominations are submitted, the Board of Directors will review the nominations, interview candidates, select the best nomination for each division's all-star manager and finalize the appointments.
4. The all-star manager, once confirmed by the BOD, will have discretion to designate two assistant coaches provided the coaches are registered volunteers in our league, in good standing and have completed all the LLI eligibility requirements.
Player Selection
1. The All-Star experiences give players more opportunity to improve skills by continuing to play in tournaments against players with higher skill level. Participation in the Little League International sanctioned tournaments provide BLL with the opportunity to showcase the quality of our baseball and softball programs. BLL pays the entry fees for these tournaments, however there can be significant cost to participants families for travel, uniforms, etc. It often requires diligent fundraising to subsidize.
2. Participating on a BLL All-Star team requires a commitment of up to an additional calendar month. This commitment typically begins around June 1st (or at the conclusion of the regular season or post season tournament) and may continue through the month of August depending on the performance of the team.
3. All-Star candidates must meet/agree to the following requirements.
4. Be willing and available to attend practice prior to and to play on tournament dates. (This can sometimes interfere with summer vacations)
5. Meet age, charter, and minimum play requirements.
6. Fundraise or self-fund the additional cost to travel and participate as required.
7. Once appointed by the board of directors an all-star manager in cooperation with the league player agent will conduct an all-star evaluation comprised of the division's nominated players. The player nominations will be comprised of players who are selected each game as player of the game by the opposing mangers and documented on the score card nightly. The all-star manger once identified, and player agent may also extend nominations to other players who have been identified as players with potential to help the team. This does not constitute an all-star invitation only the opportunity to be evaluated for selection consideration.
8. After evaluations the Manager and player agent will nominate the players they feel will best contribute and create a competitive team that represents BLL in post-season tournament play.
9. These final selections will be reviewed and approved by the BLL Board of Directors.
